Instructions

In order to prepare for teaching this summer, there are five sets of questions.

There are sections related to the Bible lesson, Mission Story, and Verses and truths you should know.

Pace yourself – perhaps one set a week. It will give you a chance to think about what you are learning.

Find a quiet place to sit down with your Bible and the Mission Story Text provided. You can download the texts if needed. Check with your local director for the full text.

If you need to leave before you have submitted the form, click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page. An email will then be sent with a link to return for you to return to it and continue.

Bible Lesson 1 - Zacchaeus
I. Read the Bible passage through at least three times and record your observations.
1. Read the passage straight through. Summarize your thoughts and impressions.
2. Read the passage a second time and list all of the characters mentioned. Take a few minutes to think about the characters and list some of the feelings they probably experienced during the story [fearful, skeptical, sad, ecstatic, ashamed, proud, embarrassed, angry, etc.]
3. Answer the study questions based on the scripture

Scripture: Luke 19:1-10
A. Read the Bible passage through and write down your thoughts and first impressions.*
B. Read the passage a second time and list the characters mentioned.

Think about the characters and list some of the feelings they probably experienced during the story [fearful, skeptical, sad, ecstatic, ashamed, proud, embarrassed, angry, etc.]. Also consider descriptive action (quickly, immediately, came near, etc.)
List the characters and their emotions and actions. Add a new row for each emotion or action. Be sure to save your responses before going on to the next question. *

2. Why do you think he was rich? (See also verse 8.)*
3. Why did Zacchaeus have difficulty seeing Jesus and what did he do about it?*
4. What do you think Zacchaeus’s thoughts were when Jesus called him by name?*
5. Just as Jesus knew Zacchaeus’s name and his need, He knows your name and your need. He also knows the name and need of each child you will teach this summer. What do you think some of their needs will be? What is the greatest need of each child you will have in your clubs?*
6. How did Zacchaeus feel about Jesus visiting his home?*
7. How did the crowd react to the fact that the Lord Jesus was going to visit him?*
8. What two things did Zacchaeus decide he would do?*
9. To what did Jesus attribute the change in Zacchaeus’s life?*
10. How has your life changed since you became a believer?*
11. Read 2 Corinthians 5:17 and think it through. What does God want to change in your life to make you more like Christ?*
12. For what purpose did Christ come into the world?*
