The 30% wholesale discount is an important aspect of Printed Matter's activities and will help insure that your book reaches as large an audience as possible. Printed Matter, Inc. strongly encourages you to participate in this aspect of our mission.

Example: If the retail price of the book is $10, the consignor will be paid $4 for each copy sold with a 30% wholesale discount.

Consignment Terms
CONSIGNMENT TERMS --- Printed Matter, Inc. agrees to stock your consigned title[s] as listed above and to distribute it by retail, wholesale, and/or by sub-consignment to a third party, for at least one year from contract date. Printed Matter will consign the above titles at 50% of the retail price, unless a different percentage is listed. Printed Matter will use all reasonable care to protect your title[s]. Printed Matter may not be held responsible for the normal "wear-and-tear" that occurs to your title[s] over the duration of this contract. In the event of fire, flood, or other disaster beyond our control, Printed Matter may not be held responsible for any loss or damage to your title[s]. Printed Matter reserves the right to reproduce images of your title[s], in whole or part, for the purpose of promotion in printed and/or electronic format[s]. Printed Matter will consider your submitted review copy as a donation to Printed Matter for the purpose of display and handling within our store, should the review copy be sold you will receive your consignment percentage of the retail price. Printed Matter handles work on a consignment basis. IN TERMS OF SALES, Printed Matter pays 50% of the retail price to you, calculating the sales quarterly throughout the year (March 31, June 30, September 30, December 31), with payments made over the course of a 30 day period. If the amount owed to you is less than $25, the balance is forwarded to the next quarterly sales period. A report of sales will be provided upon payment. You, as consignor, are solely responsible for providing Printed Matter with your current and accurate billing address, telephone and email address. To request a sales report or payment, please email consignments@printedmatter.org and include your Supplier ID number, which can be obtained by emailing kristen@printedmatter.org. Our Finance Director will get back to you within one week. Should your title[s] be discontinued by Printed Matter, Printed Matter will assume ownership of your title[s], should we be unable to contact you. Printed Matter cannot be made responsible for any shipping costs incurred in the delivery of this, or any subsequent, shipment of your title[s] to us. INSTITUTIONAL ACQUISITIONS --- Please be aware that collecting institutions, such as museum and university libraries, source works from Printed Matter in developing their collections both for public access and archival purposes. In support of artist and publisher agency in regards to institutional representation, we ask our institutional clients to reach out directly to artists and publishers for permission if publicly exhibiting or presenting works outside of a library context.*

Damaged Books

We will occasionally receive books with crushed corners, water damage, and creases because of insufficient packaging.

It is the consignor's responsibility that the titles arrive undamaged. Damaged titles will only be returned at the cost of the consignor.

Q: How will I know when my title is on inventory and available for sale?

A: Your book will appear on our website printedmatter.org once it is added to inventory.

Q: How long will it take for my book to be added to inventory once it arrives at Printed Matter?

A: Please allow two weeks for your book to be added to inventory.

Q: It's been two weeks and my book is still not online. How can I check on the status of my title?

A: Please email our Bibliographer Kristen Mueller at kristen@printedmatter.org.

Q: There is a typo or error in the title record of my book.

A: Please email kristen@printedmatter.org with any catalog corrections.

Q: My book is out of stock on the website! Can I send more?

A: Please email our Bookstore Manager Craig Mathis at craig@printedmatter.org about restocking your title.
