Rental Agreement Terms & Liability
Please review and agree to the following terms before renting the Starlink Mini Kit.
Definition of Renter
“Renter” refers to the individual whose name and signature appear on this rental agreement and who assumes full responsibility for the use, condition, return, and associated liabilities of the rented equipment.
Please Read Before Continuing
A refundable security deposit is required for all rentals. This deposit will be returned in full within 24 hours of the equipment being successfully returned on time, undamaged, and in good working condition. By proceeding, you agree to the terms outlined below regarding the use, return, and condition of the rented Starlink Mini Kit.
1. Equipment Ownership
The rented equipment remains the property of the Owner (Jon Mills) and is provided for temporary use only. This agreement does not constitute a transfer of ownership.
2. Use Restrictions
The Renter agrees to use the equipment for legal and appropriate purposes only. Equipment may not be modified, opened, disassembled, or used in a manner inconsistent with manufacturer instructions.
3. Internet Access Responsibility
Starlink service is provided through the Owner's account. The Owner is not responsible for service outages, degraded performance, or lack of coverage at your rental location. No refunds will be issued for service issues caused by Starlink’s network, weather, or terrain interference.
4. Deposit Forfeiture
The refundable deposit may be partially or fully withheld in the event of:
Late return beyond the agreed-upon date
Equipment damage
Missing accessories
Excessive wear or abuse
Failure to return equipment
5. Loss or Theft
In the event of loss or theft, the Renter is responsible for the full replacement cost of the Starlink Mini Kit and all included accessories.
6. Damage Responsibility
The Renter will be liable for the repair or replacement cost of any damaged equipment. Damage includes, but is not limited to, cracked casing, broken cables, water damage, burn marks, or hardware tampering.
7. Indemnity Clause
The Renter agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Owner from any claims, damages, or liabilities arising from the use of the equipment, including but not limited to data loss, property damage, or personal injury.
8. Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled pickup time to receive a full refund. Cancellations made within 24 hours may be subject to a one-day rental fee.
9. Late Returns
A late fee of $50 per day will be charged for each day the equipment is not returned beyond the agreed return date, unless prior written arrangements have been made.
10. Return Condition
All equipment must be returned in clean, good working condition. This means the Starlink Mini Kit and all included accessories must:
- Power on and operate normally
- Have no visible or functional damage (e.g., cracked dish, broken cables, burned components, water exposure)
- Be free of excessive dirt, residue, or modifications
- Include all originally provided accessories (mount, cables, case, etc.)
The Owner will verify the condition of the equipment upon return. Any issues that may affect the return of the full deposit — including damage, missing items, or failure to meet return standards — will be communicated directly to the Renter within 24 hours of return. The amount to be withheld, if any, will be based on the estimated cost of repair or replacement.
11. Photo Documentation
Both parties agree that photo documentation may be used to confirm the condition of the equipment before and after the rental period.
12. Weather Clause
No refunds will be issued due to poor internet connectivity resulting from weather conditions, obstructive terrain, or environmental interference.
13. Tech Support Disclaimer
Basic setup instructions will be provided. The Renter is responsible for connecting their own devices and ensuring compatible use.
14. Deposit Return Timeline
Upon return of the equipment at the agreed-upon date and time, the Owner will inspect all items for damage, missing parts, or excessive wear. If everything is in acceptable condition, the refundable deposit will be returned to the Renter within 24 hours of inspection.
If any portion of the deposit is to be withheld due to damage, loss, or other violations of this agreement, the reason will be communicated directly to the contract holder before any deductions are finalized.
