  • B'NAI MITZVAH QUESTIONNAIRE -- 2029

  • We are so excited to be a part of your child's B'nai Mitzvah experience. Here are some key points to keep in mind while filling out your questionnaire:

    • B'nai Mitzvah will take place at Temple Emanu-El in the Sanctuary or Brody Chapel
    • Clergy do not officiate B'nai Mitzvah during a Havdalah service
    • Our goal is to accommodate your preferences while balancing the needs of all families and the congregation within our scheduling parameters.
    • You will be notified of your child's date during the summer
  • Please submit by Monday, May 18

  • Family Information

  • Do you have twins or siblings close in age who plan to share a B'nai Mitzvah date?*
  • Please complete one form per child. Be sure to list the same six date preferences and location preferences on both forms. Siblings may share a B’nai Mitzvah in either the Sanctuary or the Brody Chapel, which you can indicate below.

  • Temple Emanu-El offers two service options to best accommodate your family's needs. If you are unsure what service type fits your family, our clergy are always here to discuss it with you and provide insights.

    Sanctuary
The Sanctuary service begins at 10:30 AM and this space can accommodate over 400 guests. Depending on the date, your child will most likely be partnered with another B’nai Mitzvah student in the Sanctuary.

    Brody Chapel
The Brody Chapel service begins at 10:45 AM and offers a more intimate setting for a single B’nai Mitzvah or for twins/siblings very close in age. The Chapel has a maximum seating capacity of 150.

  • Dates

  • Please look at the 2029 calendar and list SIX date requests. Please keep in mind that your child's Bar/Bat Mitzvah date will be assigned based on your preferences, their birthday and total calendar availability. Due to the size of the B'nai Mitzvah class, we cannot guarantee that your child will not be partnered with or scheduled on the same date as another child from their school.

Torah and Haftarah are read on Saturday mornings (Shabbat), and Torah is also read on Rosh Chodesh (the beginning of the new Hebrew month), as well as on Mondays and Thursdays. Because of this, we offer B’nai Mitzvah services on Mondays in addition to Shabbat.

Some families find that a Monday of a holiday weekend, such as Memorial Day or Labor Day, works well for their family. If this is something that may be of interest to you, we encourage you to include those dates among your list of preferences on this form.
